Staff Level Engineer

Southern California / Hybrid · Full-Time

The Staff-Level Engineer position is ideal for an analytically minded and detail-oriented person who excels at processing data sets, writing clear technical reports, and translating raw lab results and operational metrics into actionable engineering solutions. You will bridge the gap between field data and high-level engineering analysis by working closely with senior project managers and field teams on site assessment, remediation system performance, system permitting and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Reduction & Analysis: Process, analyze, and manage large volumes of environmental data, including soil, groundwater, and air analytical results.
  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Tabulate and graph laboratory results, chemical concentration trends, plume migration, and historical data using standard engineering and GIS/CAD tools.
  • Remediation System Tracking: Evaluate and report on remediation system Operations & Maintenance (O&M) performance metrics, mass removal rates, and equipment efficiency.
  • Technical Writing: Draft comprehensive technical reports, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and regulatory correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Project Support: Assist with engineering design calculations, permit applications, and coordination with field technicians and subcontractors.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional environmental engineering consulting or industry experience.
  • Analytical & Technical Skills: Strong quantitative skills with proven experience in data reduction, statistical trend analysis, and performance tracking of environmental systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced data manipulation/charting), data visualization tools, and familiarity with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, or equivalent modeling/drafting tools is a plus).
  • Communication & Writing: Technical writing skills with a track record of efficiently producing clear, concise engineering reports and data tables.
  • Certifications: EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred (or working toward professional licensure); 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.

Compensation

 $60,000 – $85,000 / year, depending on experience
